Addict Technologies as developed two different configuration modules for the PCIRIO card to provide PWM capabilities. A tiny version which generates two PWM signals and a full version for generating up to six PWM signals. These signals can be used to control a 3-phase bridge producing a variable voltage and frequency source to power an AC motor. Such signals can also control DC motor speed.



Tiny PWM module for PCIRIO card:

This module has been designed to be used on PCIRIO card populated with Xillinx XCS05 FPGAs. It is a truncated version of the full PWM module to fit in smaller FPGAs. It has the following specifications: 

Specifications:

  • One PWM output "Low side": AL
  • One PWM output "High side": AH
  • One input to enable/disable both PWM outputs
  • One input to change outputs polarity. (Active high or low)
  • One output synchronized on the PWM period
  • One 6-bits input port and one 8-bits output port.
  • 12-bits resolution on PWM frequency
  • Output frequency from 2034.51Hz to 8.333MHz in 120ns increment.
  • 12-bits resolution on PWM duty-cycle
  • Dead time adjustable from 0ns to 15.3us in 60ns increment. (8-bits)



Full PWM module for PCIRIO card

This module as been designed to be used with PCIRIO card populated with Xillinx XCS30 FPGAs. It mimics most of the functionalities of the ADMC300 integrated chip by generating three pairs of complemented and dead-time-adjusted center-based PWM signals.

Specifications:

  • Three PWM outputs "Low side": AL, BL, CL
  • Three PWM outputs "High side": AH, BH, CH
  • One input to enable/disable all PWM outputs
  • One input to change outputs polarity. (Active high or low)
  • One output synchronized on the PWM period
  • 16-bits resolution on PWM frequency
  • Output frequency from 126Hz to 8.25MHz in 121.2ns increment.
  • 16-bits resolution on PWM duty-cycle, independent for each phase.
  • Dead time adjustable from 60.6ns to 15.4us in 60.6ns increment. (8-bits)
